Medicines have benefits and some have risks. Always read the label and use only as directed. If symptoms persist or you have side effects see your health professional. Brands and generics both contain the same active ingredient(s) and are medically equivalent. Some brands are marketed under different names by the same manufacturer depending on the country of origin. Images are provided as a reference only, the received medicine may vary in packaging, color, pill shape, etc, from one batch to the next. For an item marked "generic" any quality brand may be sent, however you will always receive the active ingredients ordered in the strength(s) ordered.

Asthesia Cream (lidocaine, prilocaine) is a local anesthetic applied topically to healthy, unbroken skin. It can be used on the genitals and lips, but direct application to mucous membranes---such as inside the mouth, vagina, or anus---should be avoided without explicit doctor instructions.

This medication is used for a variety of superficial procedures that might otherwise cause pain. Patients buy Asthesia for:

  • Tattooing
  • Laser tattoo removal
  • Body piercing
  • Waxing
  • Laser hair removal
  • Permanent cosmetics
  • Injections
  • Pre-infiltration anesthesia
  • Piles
  • Lip sores
  • Other minor surgical procedures

Do not buy Asthesia for use on children under 12 years of age; the medication can produce a number of side effects on young, still-developing bodies, including stunted growth.

Treatment Overview

Asthesia cream is a topical, local anesthetic useful in preventing pain in a wide range of minor procedures, medical or cosmetic. Simply wash and dry the area you want to numb and apply a thin layer of Asthesia cream at least one hour prior to the procedure. It can be left on for up to three hours for greater effects; there is no advantage to leaving it on for longer than three hours.

The cream can also be covered with an air-tight dressing, if desired, for even greater results. The cream numbs the skin for the first three hours it's applied, plus an additional several hours afterward, depending on how long it was left on the skin. It should not be applied more than once every three hours.

A doctor will sometimes advise patients to buy Asthesia cream for use on broken, infected skin, or to be applied directly to mucous membranes. Doctor instructions should be followed carefully in these instances, and the doctor should be made aware of any other medical conditions or medications being taken.

While it may seem a largely harmless medication, instructions on the insert (or from a doctor) should be followed carefully. Patients who use it incorrectly---too much, on mucous membranes, on broken skin, etc---can experience side effects.

Precautions before Use

Side effects from Asthesia cream are very unlikely when this product is used as directed, but do happen. More commonly improper use allows too much to be absorbed into the bloodstream, which can produce side effects ranging from mild to dangerous:

  • Paleness
  • Redness
  • Nervousness
  • Rash
  • Allergic reaction
  • Nausea
  • Increased or decreased blood pressure
  • Slowed heartbeat
  • Hormone fluctuations

Mild warmth, stinging, itching, and so forth when the cream is first applied is normal and these effects should wear off in moments.

Patients who have kidney or liver disorders, glucose-6-phosphate deficiency, or congenital or idiopathic methemoglobinemia should speak with a doctor about risks and warning signs before they buy Asthesia cream.

The cream is unlikely to cause harm to unborn or nursing babies, but expectant or breastfeeding mothers should generally avoid use unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
